At the wooded Camp David retreat in Maryland's Catoctin Mountains, Obama and leaders from other large economic powers will try to forge a common approach to tackling a crisis that threatens the future of Europe's 17-nation single currency. Though no major policy decisions are expected from the Group of Eight summit, leaders hope they can bridge enough of their differences to soothe rattled financial markets after worries about the risk of a Greek exit from the euro zone sent European stock prices to their lowest level since December. "Hopefully we'll get some stuff done," Obama told Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti as he and other summit participants arrived for Friday evening dinner at a lodge at the secluded presidential retreat. On the other side of the debate is German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who has pushed fiscal austerity as a means of bringing down huge debt levels that are burdening European economies. Voters in euro zone countries have shown frustration with that approach, ejecting governments such as that of Nicolas Sarkozy, who was defeated by Hollande, a socialist, in the May 6 French presidential election. A draft of the summit communiqué shown to Reuters will stress an "imperative to create growth and jobs." Also on the summit agenda are concerns about oil and food prices as well as Afghanistan, Iran, Syria and North Korea. Speculation has grown that Obama will use an energy session at the G8 to seek support to tap emergency oil reserves before a European Union embargo of Iranian crude takes effect in July. But with oil prices already sliding, a move by Obama to tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve - alone or along with other countries - could expose him to criticism that the emergency supply should only be touched in a supply crisis. The Camp David summit kicked off four days of intensive diplomacy that will test leaders' ability to quell unease over the threat of another financial meltdown as well as plans to wind down the unpopular war in Afghanistan. After the Camp David talks wrap up late on Saturday afternoon, Obama will fly to his home town of Chicago where he will host a two-day NATO meeting at which the Afghanistan war will be the central topic. The police has registered a case of murder against the assailants but no arrests have been made so far. Sources claimed that the dreaded Banwariya gang was behind the incident but police officials stated that it was too early to draw any conclusions about the criminals’ identity. The incident took place on Thursday night when a call was received by the police control room that some men in a Tata Tempo were pelting stones at houses in northwest Delhi’s Subash Place area. A team of PCR and local police arrived at the spot and tried to nab the assailants. The assailants, however, got into the tempo and drove away while the PCR van and the local police team gave them a chase. “The officers were chasing them till they entered Bharat Nagar area where constable Naresh Kumar, 42, an ex-Armyman who had joined the Delhi police in 2008, and a home guard Shankar tried to stop them,” district commissioner of police (northwest) Meenu Chaudhary said. Ms Chaudhary said a barricade had been erected in Bharat Nagar to stop the fleeing assailants and nab them. “The Tata Tempo, however, did not stop, it crashed into the barricades and sped away. Another barricade was erected on the way ahead where the constable and the home guard were deployed on a motorcycle. The tempo crashed the second barricade as well and moved on.” Constable Naresh Kumar then overtook the tempo on his motorcycle and signalled the driver to stop the vehicle. “The assailants hit the bike instead. Naresh’s head was crushed under the rear wheels of the tempo and he died on the spot. We are looking for the assailants. They will be arrested soon,” Ms Chaudhary said. "It is not a cartoon. We love the cartoon. Cartoon is a different thing. He is a CPI-M man, He misused the e-mail of his society people without their consent. He forwarded it to 60 people," Banerjee said angrily when a student from Jadavpur University asked her about the arrest of Professor Ambikesh Mohapatra. Claiming that the professor was not an intellectual, but a 'CPI-M agent', she told the moderator that "after election CPI-M had sent thousands of CDs, if you are a woman and if you see them, you will feel ashamed. CPI-M and Maoists are working together." Related Articles Mamata wants MCA to revoke ban on SRK No humour please, we are Indians! What he has done is a cyber crime. It is not a cartoon, it is a political conspiracy to murder me," Banerjee claimed. Stating that her government believed in democracy, she said, "Otherwise, he (Ambikesh) should have been in custody. He has done a wrong thing. He misused the e-mail. I know that Maoist people and CPI-M are putting up these questions," the chief minister told an interactive session organised by news channel CNN-IBN. When a girl from Jadavpur University rose to ask a question, Banerjee asked "Why (students from) other universities are not here? There are so many universities. You tell me why, What about the others. "Are you a Maoist?" Banerjee asked the girl. The student shot back, "I am not a Maoist." When the moderator referred to crime against women in the state, Banerjee dismissively said, "no crime. No crime against women." Told by a questioner that she had supported the Maoists at the national level in an apparent reference to her statement that the killing of Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad was "not correct", the chief minister replied, "we did not support the Maoists. This is wrong." To an another question, Banerjee said, "we don't support the Maoists. There are so many things and other issues to ask. What is this nonsense going on? Maoists people are here. They are Maoist students. I cannot answer the Maoists' questions and CPI-M questions. "They are the CPI-M cadres. I am not going to reply. I will give reply to questions from common people. I am sorry to say you belong to CPI-M. You are SFI cadres. We know all of you," a furious Banerjee told the audience. "You did not tell me before," she told the moderator before making her exit.
